Hormone health and gut health are deeply connected. When the gut is affected by microbial imbalances, chronic stress, poor nutrition, or inflammation, it can influence everything from hormone production and metabolism to immune function and energy levels—contributing to symptoms such as irregular or painful periods, PCOS, endometriosis, fatigue, weight concerns, digestive issues, mood changes, low libido, poor sleep, and more.

At Aqua Luna, we take a root-cause approach by starting where many chronic symptoms begin: the gut. Using advanced functional lab testing, we'll evaluate your gut microbiome, digestive and immune function, food sensitivities, and key markers related to adrenal and hormone health. Together, these insights allow us to create a personalized protocol designed to restore balance, reduce inflammation, and support long-term wellness.

Your journey begins with a complimentary 30-minute discovery call, where we'll discuss your health history, goals, and determine whether our program is the right fit for you.

About the Tests -

GI MAP

The GI-MAP® Stool Test is one of our favorite tools for uncovering the root cause of chronic digestive and systemic symptoms. Because the gut influences digestion, immune function, hormone balance, metabolism, and even the gut-brain connection, understanding what's happening within your microbiome can provide meaningful insights into your overall health.

Using advanced DNA technology, the GI-MAP® offers a comprehensive evaluation of your gut ecosystem, identifying microbial imbalances, opportunistic bacteria, parasites, yeast, viruses, and other factors that may be contributing to symptoms. It also assesses key markers of digestion, nutrient absorption, inflammation, and immune function, allowing us to create a personalized, evidence-informed plan tailored to your unique physiology.

Key markers include:

  • Beneficial and opportunistic bacteria

  • Pathogenic bacteria, parasites, viruses, and yeast

  • Digestive and absorptive function

  • Intestinal inflammation

  • Gut immune function (Secretory IgA)

  • Beta-glucuronidase (estrogen metabolism)

  • Occult blood

  • Pancreatic elastase

  • Calprotectin

  • Anti-gliadin IgA

  • And other clinically relevant markers of gastrointestinal health

MRT

The Mediator Release Test (MRT®) helps identify foods and food chemicals that may be contributing to inflammatory patterns within the body. While some reactions are obvious, others can be subtle and contribute to ongoing symptoms that may be difficult to connect back to specific triggers.

Unlike traditional allergy testing, the MRT® evaluates how your immune cells respond to specific foods and chemicals by measuring the release of inflammatory mediators. This provides insight into potential subclinical inflammatory responses that may be associated with symptoms such as digestive discomfort, headaches, joint pain, fatigue, skin concerns, and other chronic patterns.

By identifying your individual food reactivity profile, MRT® allows us to create a personalized nutrition strategy designed to reduce inflammatory triggers, support gut healing, and help you better understand how your body responds to the foods you eat.

Key features include:

  • Evaluates immune response to a broad range of foods and food chemicals

  • Identifies potential inflammatory triggers contributing to symptoms

  • Provides an individualized reactivity profile to guide nutrition recommendations

  • Supports a targeted, personalized elimination and reintroduction approach

DUTCH

The DUTCH® Test (Dried Urine Test for Comprehensive Hormones) provides a comprehensive look at your hormone patterns, including sex hormones, adrenal function, and hormone metabolites. Unlike traditional hormone testing that provides a snapshot of hormone levels at a single point in time, the DUTCH® Test reveals how your body is producing, processing, and metabolizing hormones.

This advanced test provides valuable insight into pathways related to reproductive health, stress response, energy, sleep, and hormone balance. By understanding not only your hormone levels, but also how your body is utilizing and clearing them, we can identify patterns that may be contributing to symptoms such as PMS, irregular cycles, fatigue, weight changes, acne, mood shifts, sleep concerns, and low libido.

Your results allow us to create a personalized plan designed around your unique physiology—supporting hormone regulation, stress resilience, and overall wellness through targeted nutrition, lifestyle strategies, and supplementation when appropriate.

Key markers include:

  • Estrogen and estrogen metabolites

  • Progesterone

  • Testosterone

  • DHEA

  • Free and metabolized cortisol

  • Cortisone

  • Melatonin

  • Organic acids related to nutrient status and cellular function

  • Additional markers related to hormone metabolism and overall health
